KYBELLA® is indicated for treatment of stubborn, localized fat pocket under the chin, commonly known as double chin. KYBELLA® and CoolSculpting are the only non-surgical FDA approved treatments for a double chin. KYBELLA® is an injectable treatment that shows results slowly over time and indicated for those who have achieved a healthy body weight, but the localized area of fat remains. It can improve the appearance of your profile by addressing the double chin area.

How Does it Work?

Synthetic deoxycholic acid is the active ingredient in KYBELLA®. The original molecule is naturally occurring in the body and typically plays a role in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. KYBELLA® reduces fullness under the chin by destroying fat cells contained there permanently. It is injected under the chin through a series of in-office procedures that typically take 30 minutes. The number of procedures needed are determined by the size and quality of the pocket under the chin and your specific desired aesthetic goal. Once the fat cells are destroyed, the area can no longer store or accumulate fat and the treatment is considered permanent.

What Can I Expect After KYBELLA® Treatments?

As with most injectable treatments, some swelling, bruising or numbness under the chin is common. Rare reactions such as an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing or injection site problems such as bruising, hair loss, open sores or drainage around the injection site have been reported but are exceedingly uncommon. Most localized swelling or bruising are self-limiting and are expected to recover within a few days.
